Join us for our Bee Counted event on August 22 at 9 AM at the Cosby Lake Clubhouse! I'm inviting kids and their families to join the Great Southeast Pollinator Census for a fun morning of counting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators around our community. Also, a friendly reminder that school starts August 12 — make sure your students are registered!

Out & About¶

We had a wonderful Independence Day celebration on July 3 with a spectacular fireworks show! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us.

This month's 2nd Saturday in Clay was a great success as volunteers cleaned up Wear Cemetery. And, thanks to a temporary easement from Alabama Power, Public Works was already able to cut up and remove the fallen tree from the property. Thank you to everyone who lent a hand!

I had the pleasure of attending a mayoral lunch hosted by Congressman Gary Palmer, who took the time to update his district's mayors on what's happening in Washington and shared ways we can get involved and make an impact locally. I was also honored to appear on Discover Alabama's radio program on July 25.

City Updates¶

We hosted our first town hall on the future of the DYS property, and the turnout and ideas were fantastic! We're still collecting name and purpose suggestions — email us at dys@clayalabama.org to share yours.

Our code enforcement team continues to make great progress across the city — thank you for keeping Clay looking its best!

And, I want to make sure you know about one of my favorite improvements at Cosby Lake, where we've installed new swings. Come on out and enjoy!
