The City of Clay does not have its own mail delivery ZIP code, so your address may list Trussville, Pinson, Birmingham, or Springville instead of Clay. Mail to Clay homes and businesses is routed through those post offices, and the ZIP codes in the city include 35215, 35126, 35173, 35235, and 35048.
Clayâs public schools are part of the Jefferson County school system, not a city school system.
Trash and bulk pickup is provided by Republic Services, and Republic customers can report a missed pickup through the cityâs online form. Water service comes from Birmingham Water Works or Trussville Water and Gas, depending on your address. Gas service is available through Alabama Gas, Spire Natural Gas or Trussville Water and Gas, and Alabama Power provides electricity.

The Center Point Fire District provides fire protection to Clay residents, and property owners are charged an annual fee.
The City of Clay pays for enhanced law enforcement services in addition to those provided by the Jefferson County Sheriffâs Office.
To request a deputy for a law enforcement, traffic, or safety need that is not an emergency, call 205-325-1450.
Driverâs license renewals are handled by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, and you can register to vote through the Alabama Secretary of State. Jefferson County vehicle tags can be renewed online or in person at City Hall during normal business hours. Newly acquired vehicles being registered to a new owner for the first time must be processed in person at the Jefferson County courthouse. Clay residents attend Clay Elementary, Chalkville Elementary, Bryant Park Elementary, Clay-Chalkville Middle School, and Clay-Chalkville High School.
These schools are operated by the Jefferson County Board of Education.

Enjoy a hike or fishing at historic Cosby Lake, play on our pickleball courts, or try our 21-hole disc golf course. Families can visit two playgrounds, cool off at the splash pad, or spend time at the W. Alan Summers Municipal Library. Clay Youth Sports offers recreational programs for local children, and the Senior Activity Center provides a welcoming place for older residents to connect and stay active.
